EXP is seeking a Traffic Incident Management (TIM) Coordinator with demonstrated experience in freeway operations, incident response programs, and multi-agency coordination to support major transportation clients across South Florida. This role supports Real-Time Traffic Management Center (RTMC) operations, Freeway Service Patrol (FSP) programs, Rapid Incident Scene Coordination (RISC), after action reports, Severe Incident Response Vehicle (SIRV). The position may involve in-house (client-side) support through staff augmentation, working directly with agencies such as Florida Department of Transportation and regional partners.
What a day at EXP has in store for you
• Coordinate day-to-day Traffic Incident Management (TIM) program activities, including Road Ranger Service Patrol operations, incident detection, verification, response, and clearance
• Serve as liaison between RTMC operators, law enforcement, towing and recovery, fire rescue, and maintenance crews
• Monitor real-time traffic conditions using Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS) such as SunGuide and support incident response decision-making
• Analyze incident data (crash and non-crash) to identify trends, performance gaps, and opportunities for operational improvements
• Support development and implementation of TIM strategies aligned with TSM&O objectives, including quick clearance policies and managed lanes operations
• Assist in performance reporting, including response time, clearance time, secondary crashes, and program efficiency metrics
• Support planning and execution of TIM training programs and multi-agency coordination meetings
• Contribute to development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Concept of Operations (ConOps), and systems engineering documentation
• Provide support for special events, emergency response (e.g., hurricanes), and contingency operations
• Participate in field reviews, after-action reports, and continuous improvement initiatives
What your experience looks like
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or 4 years of related field experience with Freeway Service Patrol (FSP) programs
• Minimum 4 years of experience in Traffic Incident Management, TSM&O, or traffic operations
• Experience working with RTMC environments and freeway service patrol programs
• Knowledge of incident management principles, quick clearance laws, and interagency coordination protocols
• Experience with traffic management software platforms
• Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret operational data and performance metrics
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and operate in high-pressure, real-time environments
Preferred:
• Maintenance of Traffic for Technicians Certification
• Experience supporting Florida Department of Transportation District operations or similar agencies
• Familiarity with TIM standard Operating Procedures
• Experience with data analytics and visualization tools (e.g., MS Excel)
• • Experience in managed lanes, incident response and safety
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to lead coordination efforts across multidisciplinary teams
