Job Description

As passionate about our people as we are about our mission.

Why Join Q2?

Q2 is a leading provider of digital banking and lending solutions to banks, credit unions, alternative finance companies, and fintechs in the U.S. and internationally. Our mission is simple: build strong and diverse communities through innovative financial technology—and we do that by empowering our people to help create success for our customers.

What Makes Q2 Special?

Being as passionate about our people as we are about our mission. We celebrate our employees in many ways, including our “Circle of Awesomeness” award ceremony and day of employee celebration among others! We invest in the growth and development of our team members through ongoing learning opportunities, mentorship programs, internal mobility, and meaningful leadership relationships. We also know that nothing builds trust and collaboration like having fun. We hold an annual Dodgeball for Charity event at our Q2 Stadium in Austin, inviting other local companies to play, and community organizations we support to raise money and awareness together.

Q2 is seeking a Quality Engineer to join our Custom Development Team, responsible for ensuring high-quality software across our fintech platform. This role is ideal for early-career engineers, fresh graduates, or those with up to 2 years of experience who are passionate about testing, automation, and software quality. You will work on web-based and custom applications, executing manual and automated tests, contributing to test strategy, and collaborating closely with developers, business analysts, and project managers. The role provides exposure to real-world software development, CI/CD environments, and Agile practices, offering an opportunity to grow technical skills, mentoring capabilities, and a deep understanding of quality assurance processes.

A Typical Day:

  • Create, maintain, and execute comprehensive test plans based on use cases and customer requirements.
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts across multiple products using Selenium, Python, or equivalent tools.
  • Execute manual test efforts and accurately document defects with detailed diagnostic information.
  • Collaborate closely with developers, analysts, project managers, and other testers to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Set up and maintain test environments and automation frameworks.
  • Participate in Sprint/Release planning sessions and contribute to test effort estimation.
  • Author, review, and critique unit tests and other automated scripts.
  • Track and report time and testing progress across multiple projects.
  • Support QA best practices and process improvements.
  • Ensure adherence to security, availability, confidentiality, and privacy policies throughout testing activities.
  • Focus on continuous improvement of product quality and contribute to team learning initiatives.
  • Communicate test outcomes clearly to developers and guide them toward understanding exit criteria.
  • Leverage AI tools to assist with test case generation, test data creation, and improving testing efficiency.

Bring Your Passion, Do What You Love. Here’s What We’re Looking For:

  • 0–2 years of relevant QA/testing experience (including internships or early professional experience).
  • Exposure to automated testing tools, scripting, and test automation frameworks (Python, Selenium, or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development and testing tools (e.g. Codex, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or similar) and the ability to apply them to improve quality and productivity.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
  • Experience testing web-based software solutions (front-end and back-end).
  • Familiarity with SQL, web services, and RESTful APIs is a plus.
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle, Agile, and CI/CD practices.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills, especially in small, highly efficient teams.
  • Proactive, motivated, and passionate about delivering high-quality software.
  • Experience with version control systems (Git) and defect tracking tools (JIRA, QTest) preferred.
  • Understanding of test planning, test case creation, execution, and maintenance processes
  • Exposure to enterprise or SaaS applications and cloud-based solutions is a plus.

This position requires fluent written and oral communication in English.
