About the role

Job Purpose

Based onsite in our Central Nottingham office, as IT Site Services Technician, you'll manage the installation of hardware for desktops and laptops and provide technical user/systems support for local and remote staff across our UK operations

Reporting to the Senior Manager, IT Managed Services and working Monday to Friday standard office hours, you'll ensure upgrades, maintenance and repairs are undertaken and will be called upon to resolve end user incidents and service requests. Working with other, experienced team members, you'll also be encouraged to contribute to various projects.

A varied role, this position offers excellent development opportunities, allowing you to grow your end‑user support skills and use this as a platform to progress into other specialist technical areas, including, e.g., Security, M365, Infrastructure & Operations, End User Computing, Project Delivery, etc.

Key Accountabilities

System Installation / decommissioning

  • Installs or removes hardware and/or software, and associated connections, using supplied installation instructions and tools. 

  • Conducts tests and corrects malfunctions. 

  • Documents results in accordance with agreed procedures. 

  • Assists with the evaluation of change requests. 

  • Contributes, as required, to investigations of problems and faults concerning the installation of hardware and/or software and confirms the correct working of installations.

Problem Management 

  • Investigates problems in systems, processes and services. 

  • Assists with the implementation of agreed remedies and preventative measures.

Incident Management

  • Following agreed procedures, identifies, registers and categorises incidents. 

  • Gathers information to enable incident resolution and promptly allocates incidents as appropriate. 

  • Maintains records and advises relevant persons of actions taken

IT Infrastructure 

  • Carries out agreed operational procedures of a routine nature. 

  • Contributes to maintenance, installation and problem resolution.

Asset Management

  • Uses agreed procedures to create and maintain an accurate register of assets. 

  • Performs activities related to administration of assets.

  • Produces routine reports to assist asset management activities and decision making.

Methods & Tools

  • Provides advice and guidance to support adoption of methods and tools and adherence to policies and standards. 

  • Tailors processes in line with agreed standards and evaluation of methods and tools. 

  • Reviews and improves usage and application of methods and tools.

Porting / Software configuration

  • Assists in the configuration of software and equipment and the systems testing of platform-specific versions of one or more software products. 

  • Documents faults, implements resolutions and retests to agreed standards.

Functional/Technical Skills/Knowledge

  • Understanding of Windows operating systems, PC hardware and networking fundamentals

  • A positive attitude, strong communication skills and a willingness to learn

  • Ability to stay organised and manage multiple tasks in a busy environment

  • Curiosity, attention to detail and a problem-solving mindset

  • Confidence to work independently with support from experienced team members
