Job Description

SUMMARY

The Visual Display Production Assistant will be a year-round position under the direction of the Visual Display Manager. This position will assist the Visual Displays department with physical production. (Printing, laminating, trimming and installing signage and display graphics for: EAA AirVenture, EAA Museum and trade show displays, EAA vehicles/equipment, along with fulfilment stock for EAA Chapters and EAA divisions) The assistant will also learn and operate the laser engraver, producing 3D models, plaques and awards. There will be design opportunities in both graphics and laser produced items.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Operate and maintain EAAs large format printers (2), cold laminator and Helix Laser.
  2. Print signs, graphics, decals and display graphics.
  3. Cut and size vinyl and sign substrates, applying vinyl letters, logos and designs to surfaces.
  4. Mount and trim large format prints on various substrates.
  5. Laminating, trim and installing large format graphics.
  6. Print and finish (trim, hem, grommet) vinyl banners.
  7. Trim and package products.
  8. Design items as needed.
  9. Produce models, plaques and awards on laser engraver.
  10. Work with and direct volunteers.
  11. Learn all aspects of the Visual Display Manager role and serve as back up and coverage.
  12. Embraces and supports the EAA mission and performs safe practices in the workplace and aviation environment.
  13. All other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate’s degree in graphic design or BFA in design
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Experience with InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Basic computer skills
  • Strong math skills
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Ability to work in and outdoors in changing weather conditions
  • Ability to work in a fast paced deadline oriented environment
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. occasionally, 25 lbs. frequently and 10 lbs constantly
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach and carry bulky or oversized objects

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to perform manual labor, lift up to 50lbs occasionally, standing and walking for extended periods of time while bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, push and pull motions.
