Duties and Responsibilities

The day-to-day duties of the Paint Inspector may vary, dependent on workload. To successfully perform the requirements of this position, it is preferred that the employee have one year of related experience, be motivated and extremely quality minded. The right candidate will possess good organizational skills and be able to work independently. They will also be familiar with the coating applications processes and have experience in applying coating products to substrates.

General Requirements:

  • Safely operate in a high mix/low volume production environment
  • Accurately identify paint defects in powder coated and liquid coated parts
  • Read blueprints, perform inspections, perform paint touch up following established procedures
  • Set up/operate all inspection equipment for paint verification and basic computer data entry of results
  • Must take pride in work
  • Quality check work of other members of the paint and powder coating department to identify and correct defects prior to items moving to next internal customer
  • Maintain detailed records
  • Ensure efficient and timely processing of various job orders by organizing work to be performed according to complexity, anticipated completion time, etc.
  • Safely and efficiently move the various material to workstation
  • Properly and effectively use measuring instruments typically used to check adhesion, film thickness, and other precision measuring equipment to conduct inspection
  • Must be able to work with and without supervision to complete required tasks
  • Maintain good housekeeping, clean area, and equipment regularly, and conduct lower level maintenance on equipment
  • Be able to read and comprehend written work instructions and follow processes
  • Cross-train supporting other functions in the shop as needed
  • Working with team members to ensure customers deadlines are met
  • Willingness to learn, good attitude, strong work ethic and stable work history a must
