POSITION: Summer Program Assistant – Boys & Girls Club of Worcester

REPORTS TO: Director of Operations

HOURS OF WORK: Full Time 30 – 40 hours

WORK STATUS: Non-Exempt - Seasonal

Position is a summer seasonal position for eight weeks from June 15th through August 14, this includes one week of training prior to program implementation. Must be available to work between the hours of 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday (8 hour days). Must have flexibility and reliable transportation. This is an excellent entry level position for a motivated individual who is interested in working with youth.

We are looking for a Full Time Summer Program Assistant who will assist with providing fun and engaging social, recreational, and educational activities to children ages 8-18 years primarily in the Athletics and Teen Room as well as other areas as needed. 

The Boys & Girls Club of Worcester is a nonprofit, charitable, educational organization recognized as a leading advocate for youth development, working to help youth of all backgrounds.

We provide girls and boys with effective diverse programs and services; and demonstrate that caring adults can truly help young people grow into contributing human beings with the necessary skills for living.

Responsibilities:

  • May oversee special programs and/or events and/or participate in the implementation of other Clubhouse activities as necessary.
  • Must have the physical ability to sit, stand, run and jump for up to 3 hours 
  • May need to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • May consult with parents concerning member and Clubhouse issues.
  • Perform light cleaning and assume other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications and Skills:

Education: High School Degree or equivalent required. 

Experience: A minimum of one year experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities.

Skills/Knowledge required in the following areas:

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated organizational, staff and project management abilities.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications, preferred, but not required.
  • Concussion Prevention  certification, preferred, but not required.
  • Bilingual preferred (Spanish & English) but not required.

All applicants will be required to pass a criminal offender record information check (CORI) and a national background check.
