Job Description

OPEN POSITIONS:         Special Education Paraprofessional with Emphasis on Job Coaching (Ages 18–21 Program)

START DATE:                 2025-2026 school year


 


POSITION SALARY:        $16.26/hour - $17.68/hour (Depending on education)
 
PRIMARY FUNCTION:    We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Paraprofessional to support adult students with disabilities ages 18–21. This program focuses on developing independent living skills, job skills, and employability skills to help students transition successfully into adulthood. The paraprofessional will work closely with a certified special education teacher to provide individualized support and guidance in community and vocational settings.


 


Key Responsibilities:




  • Assist the special education teacher in delivering instruction and supports aligned with student IEP goals.




  • Provide hands-on assistance to students in learning and practicing independent living skills.




  • Support students in job training and community-based work experiences.




  • Help students develop employability skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.




  • Supervise and assist students in vocational and community environments.




  • Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning atmosphere.




  • Collect data on student progress as directed by the teacher.




                                     
QUALIFICATIONS: 



  • Job coaching experience is strongly preferred.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred.

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to support students in a variety of settings (community, independent living, job site).

  • Preferred: Current Missouri Substitute Teaching Certificate or willingness to obtain one.
