Title: Adjunct Faculty - Chemistry

Job Description


Specific responsibilities include teaching undergraduates in general chemistry and area of expertise. Adjunct faculty are expected to teach lecture and lab for the course that is assigned, along with classroom management including preparation of lecture, supervision of students in laboratory, writing assignments, and grading assignments.



Adjunct faculty hold appointments, as defined by their letter of appointment, without eligibility for tenure; where authorized by the Dean, adjunct appointments may be renewed. Adjunct faculty appointments do not guarantee a course assignment.






Required Qualifications


All faculty must have at least a Master’s degree in the field/discipline in which they are teaching with 18 hours of course work related to the course(s) being taught. In some cases, subject to the approval by the Provost, a faculty member could be recommended for appointment based on substitution of significant experience for the degree.






Preferred Qualifications:


The applicant must have a masters degree in chemistry.






Special Instructions to Applicants


Applicants must submit an unofficial copy of transcripts of post-secondary course work with the application. If the applicant’s official transcripts are on file in the Office of the Provost, a statement indicating such, must be submitted in lieu of the documents with the application. Official transcripts of all post-secondary course work will be required upon selection for hire.

Adjunct instructors must attend a scheduled adjunct orientation as offered upon appointment. Orientation date and time will be announced.
