    Position: Substitute Teacher 

    JOB SUMMARY:
     
    The substitute teacher utilizes the lesson plans of the normal classroom teacher to help sustain normal learning in their classroom during their absence. The substitute teacher is also expected to use effective classroom management to control the behavioral discipline of the students.
     
    SUBSTITUTE RESPONSIBILITIES / TASKS: 
    • Arrive in each class on time.
    • Take accurate attendance.
    • Facilitate the lesson plans and follow all instructions left by the teacher.
    • Manage the classes effectively and actively monitor students as they engage in their assignments. 
    • Ensure proper discipline in the classroom. Report any disciplinary issues to the teacher and/or administrator as needed.
    • Collect papers and store them safely.
    • Leave information for the teacher about what occurred in class.
    • Ensure that students are let out of class on time.
    • Leave the physical classroom clean and orderly.
    • Maintain confidentiality with regard to student information and records.
     
    POSITION REQUIREMENTS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
     
    • B.A./B.S. degree and state or ACSI certification is preferred, but not required.
    • Maintains an active membership of a Christ-centered church, growing in his/her Christian relationship with God, and actively practicing and exhibiting Christian principles of the Christian faith.
    • Maintains a professional appearance.
    • Has good communication skills, both oral and written.
    • Demonstrates respect for students and staff at all times.
    • Is able to handle multiple tasks, energetic, with good organizational skills 
    • Is able to deal with a variety of adults and children with a range of personalities and/or problems and maintain confidentiality.
    • Committed to Christian principles and teachings both professionally and personally.
     
    REPORTS TO: Principal/Vice Principal
