Job Title: Occupational Therapist

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
• Illinois state licensure as an Occupational Therapist.
• Experience working with children, preferably in a school setting.
• Knowledge of special education laws and best practices.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Certification in pediatric occupational therapy (e.g., NBCOT).
• Experience with assistive technology and adaptive equipment.
• Background in sensory integration therapy.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

REPORTS TO: Director of Student Services

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Occupational Therapist will provide assessments, interventions, and educational strategies to help students develop the skills necessary for academic success and daily living.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify students' needs and develop individualized treatment plans.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to integrate therapeutic strategies into the classroom environment.
• Provide direct therapy services to students, focusing on fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-regulation, and activities of daily living.
• Monitor and document student progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
• Educate staff and parents on strategies to support student development and promote a sensory-friendly environment.
• Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary teams.
• Participate in the MTSS process to provide appropriate Occupational Therapy intervention
• Maintain accurate and timely records in compliance with school and state regulations.
• Stay current with best practices in occupational therapy and special education through ongoing professional development.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

• Classroom-based with regular interaction throughout the school.
• Attendance at meetings and events outside regular school hours.

PHYSICAL CONTEXT OF THE JOB:

• Regular travel within the school building and occasional off-site meetings.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• Full-time position.
• Salary and benefits commensurate with experience and locally competitive.
• Expected annual salary range: $55,000-$90.000
