Deli Cook - Express Lane

Job Overview

We are seeking a reliable and motivated Deli Cook to join our team at Express Lane New London Deli and Market . This role involves preparing fresh, high-quality food, maintaining a clean and organized deli, and ensuring excellent customer service. The position includes both morning and night shifts to accommodate our operational needs and you may go to other locations to fill staffing needs as needed.

Responsibilities

  1. Chicken Preparation: Clean, season, and cook chicken to meet quality and safety standards.
  2. Food Preparation: Prep fruits, vegetables, and other items for the cold case, including ingredients for cold sandwiches.
  3. Deli Maintenance: Keep the deli area clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety regulations.
  4. Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, rotate products, and ensure freshness of all deli items.
  5. Customer Service: Assist customers with orders and maintain a friendly, professional demeanor.
  6. Cash Register Operation: Complete training on cash register use and handle transactions accurately.
  7. Money Handling: Count money, process payments, and ensure accurate cash drawer balancing.
  8. Team Collaboration: Work closely with deli manager and staff to ensure smooth operations during shifts.

Shift Details

  1. Morning Shift: 4:30 AM - 2:30 PM*
  2. Night Shift: 2:30 PM - 11:30 PM
  3. Full-time and part-time positions available. Weekend and holiday availability required*

Qualifications

  1. Previous experience in food preparation or kitchen work preferred, but not required.
  2. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
  3. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
  4. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  5. Basic math skills for accurate money handling and register operation.
  6. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
  7. Positive attitude and ability to work well in a team.
