Description
The Assistant Controller supports the financial management, reporting, and internal control functions of the organization. This role assists the Controller with accounting operations, month-end and year-end close, financial statement preparation, audit coordination, and compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. The Assistant Controller also helps ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial information used for decision-making.
**This position could be based in Casper or Douglas Wyoming.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
Minimum of three to five years of progressive accounting experience preferred
Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, audits, budgeting, and financial analysis preferred
Proficiency with accounting software, spreadsheets, and financial reporting systems
Summary
1. Assists in overseeing daily accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, and journal entries.
2. Supports month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
3. Prepares, reviews, and analyzes financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules.
4. Assists with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow monitoring, and financial analysis as directed.
5. Supports internal and external audits by preparing documentation, schedules, and requested reports.
6. Ensures compliance with GAAP, organizational policies, and applicable regulatory and reporting requirements.
7. Monitors internal controls and assists in identifying opportunities to improve accounting processes and procedures.
8. Reconciles balance sheet accounts, bank accounts, and other financial records accurately and on schedule.
9. Assists with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and other accounting functions as needed.
10. Supports the Controller in financial planning, special projects, and operational analysis.
11. Collaborates with department leaders and staff to provide financial guidance and resolve accounting issues.
12. Maintains confidentiality of financial records and sensitive organizational information at all times.
