Reliability Superintendent – Melbourne

DP World is seeking an experienced and motivated Reliability Superintendent to join our Engineering team at West Swanson Terminal, Melbourne.

This is a key leadership role focused on improving equipment reliability, reducing downtime, and driving continuous improvement across our critical terminal operations. You will play a central role in developing reliability strategies, leading root cause analysis, improving preventive and predictive maintenance programs, and supporting long-term asset performance.

Working closely with Engineering, Operations, Planning, and National Reliability teams, you will help shape and deliver reliability initiatives that improve equipment availability and operational performance.


About the Role

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Reliability Superintendent will lead reliability initiatives across terminal assets and equipment, with a strong focus on condition monitoring, maintenance optimisation, and asset lifecycle improvement.

This role partners closely with Planning and Operations teams to improve maintenance effectiveness through strategy and analysis, without direct ownership of scheduling activities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead reliability improvement initiatives across terminal equipment and assets
  • Develop and enhance preventive and predictive maintenance strategies
  • Drive condition monitoring programs including vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, ultrasound and NDT techniques
  • Conduct and lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations and implement corrective actions
  • Improve equipment availability, MTTR, MTBF and reduce emergency maintenance work orders
  • Review OEM recommendations, maintenance strategies and asset criticality
  • Support reliability-related projects including equipment upgrades and new technologies
  • Prepare reliability reporting, trend analysis and improvement recommendations
  • Align local reliability strategies with National and Global reliability frameworks
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring and knowledge sharing across the maintenance teams

About You

You are a strong technical leader with deep reliability engineering experience and a passion for continuous improvement.

You thrive in complex operational environments, can influence stakeholders across multiple functions, and bring a practical, solutions-focused approach to improving equipment performance.

You will bring:

  • Minimum 5 years’ reliability experience in heavy industry, mining, ports, manufacturing or mobile fleet environments
  • Engineering Degree, Diploma, or relevant trade qualification with demonstrated reliability experience
  • Strong experience in Asset Management and Reliability Engineering
  • Demonstrated experience with RCA methodologies, Lean, Six Sigma and TPM
  • Practical experience with condition monitoring technologies including vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, ultrasound and NDT
  • Experience using CMMS systems such as Maximo or SAP
  • Strong understanding of asset criticality, lifecycle performance and cost drivers
  • Knowledge of OHS legislation, Australian Standards and safe work practices
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication and leadership capability
  • Experience working in unionised or industrial relations environments will be highly regarded
