until filled Additional Information: Show/Hide - Instruct faculty and students in developing methods of information retrieval through individual and group situations;
- Instruct faculty and students in the proper use of the library media center's facilities, including print, non-print materials, media equipment, and computer technology;
- Provide service and access to students and faculty, including circulation, reference and media, instruction, copyright information, and educational technology;
- Maintain and promote the library and media collections at the school with students, parents and teachers;
- Perform clerical functions related to budget and processing materials, circulation and maintenance of inventory;
- Assist students in the selection of appropriate reading materials, and support classroom/school curriculum, programs, and instruction;
- Maintain materials inventory and equipment (i.e., library books, library hardware/software, textbooks, audio books, media equipment, computers, printers, magazines, newspapers, and related instructional materials) for the purpose of providing up-to-date references and ensuring the availability of materials and equipment when required;
- Assist in monitoring student activities and computer use for the purpose of maintaining a safe environment conducive to learning;
- Assist with the circulation of loaner laptops/chargers/Chromebooks/headphones;
- Operate a variety of media-computer equipment and systems (i.e., digital cameras, digital media, computers, printers, LCD projectors, Smart Boards, laminator, poster machine, CDs DVDs, circulation equipment, etc.);
- Design a library media center that is aligned with 21st century learners/skills;
- Support grade level curriculum standards and expectations in media classes;
- Utilize grade level appropriate digital resources to support student learning and exploration;
- Work in classrooms, as required, in order to do read-alouds and similar work with students in all grade levels;
- Create an environment of respect and rapport;
- Establish a culture for learning;
- Manage class procedures and student behavior;
- Provide weekly read-alouds for classes, time for checking out and returning books, and activities related to class and/or school-wide content, social emotional learning, and cultural awareness through the books being read;
- Create and maintain bulletin boards that support school themes/focus throughout the year.
- Must possess a minimum of a high school diploma; preference may be given to those who have an Associate's degree (or greater) in a related field of study;
- Must hold a minimum of two years of library services experience;
- Ability to plan and implement library services for elementary students;
- Knowledge of various technologies and applications and ability to continually learn and upgrade skills to better aid students and the school;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students and staff;
- An outgoing and engaging demeanor to work effectively with students and staff;
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form;
- Ability to meet deadlines with time constraints;
- Ability to plan and organize work schedule and set priorities;
- Familiar with Gmail and Google Apps;
- Ability to work independently and efficiently.
