ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY
SUMMARY: Cal Poly Pomona Enterprises’ Digital Humanities Consortium (DHC) at Cal Poly Pomona is seeking two motivated and collaborative Student Fellows for the 2026–2027 academic year. These positions support the development of Digital Humanities (DH) programming, student engagement, and interdisciplinary initiatives across campus. The DHC serves as a hub for aligning resources, fostering collaboration, and creating innovative programming that explores the intersection of technology and the humanities. This includes hosting experts, showcasing student work, and supporting faculty and student development in areas such as GIS, digital media, computational research, and critical studies of technology. Student Fellows will work closely with faculty and the DHC Steering Committee to support programming, outreach, and student learning initiatives. This position requires strong organizational and communication skills, creativity, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. The expected workload is approximately 4 hours per week for 15 weeks at $25 per hour. A 1-unit course will support coordination and time management.
SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety):
- Assist in coordinating Digital Humanities programming from concept to implementation.
- Collaborate with the DHC Steering Committee to brainstorm and develop initiatives.
- Serve as a student resource on topics related to technology, research, and digital media.
- Plan and facilitate workshops, classroom visits, and office hours.
- Support marketing and outreach efforts to promote DHC programs and events.
- Contribute to student engagement and community-building within the DH ecosystem.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current Cal Poly Pomona student who has completed coursework or participated in Digital Humanities-related activities.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students.
- Dependability and ability to manage responsibilities with minimal supervision.
PREFERRED:
- Experience with digital content creation, including video/audio recording and editing.
- Familiarity with tools such as Audacity, Camtasia, CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar.
- Experience with GIS tools (e.g., ArcGIS StoryMaps, Google Earth/Maps).
- Basic knowledge of HTML, website editing (e.g., Cascade), or programming.
- Background in marketing, outreach, or event planning.
- Interest in interdisciplinary work involving technology and the humanities.
ABOUT US: As the largest employer of students on the Cal Poly Pomona campus, the Enterprises offers valuable work experience and hands-on training to approximately 1,500 Cal Poly Pomona students each year.
