Title: Staff Accountant

Status: Temporary, Part Time (20 hours per week)

Classification: Non-Exempt

Reporting Relationship: Vice President of Finance

Program/Department: Management

Salary Range: $27 - $30/Hour



Position Description:


A Staff Accountant supports Keystone Community Services with accounting operations, grant reporting, and reimbursement processing. This role ensures accurate financial records, compliance with grant requirements, and timely reporting through Keystone's accounting system.


This position is required to work in-office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Scheduling of hours on these days are flexible however listed days are required.


This position is temporary in nature and is anticipated to last until December 31st, 2026, however may end at any time.



Essential Functions


95% Accounting Operations Support

  • Assist with daily accounting functions such as journal entries and general ledger maintenance.
  • Ensure proper allocation of expenses and maintain supporting documentation.
  • Process grant reimbursements and funding drawdowns.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly grant reports and assist with monitoring department budgets.
  • Assist with monthly and quarterly closure and account reconciliations.


5% - Other Duties

  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned



Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
  • Two years of professional experience in a related finance field.
  • Understanding of compliance using Generally Accepted Accounting Principals (GAAP).
  • Strong attention to detail and understanding of financial compliance.
  • Microsoft Office Suite experience with a proficiency in Excel or related.
  • Previous experience working with accounting software.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with MIP Accounting Software.
  • Experience working in a Non-Profit setting. 



Physical/Mental Requirements & Equipment Used

The physical requirements of this position include sitting, computer work, bending to file, lifting up to 20 lbs., telephone calls, and moving around the office.

The mental job requirements of this position include critical thinking, problem-solving, written and oral communication skills, planning, reading, and math skills. Also, the ability to maintain confidentiality, keep updated on accounting standards and principles, internal controls, practices, and procedures, and exercise sound ethical judgment and professional conduct.

Equipment used includes a telephone, calculator, computer, and other office equipment.
