Audiology Patient Scheduler
Position Summary
The Audiology Patient Scheduler is responsible for coordinating patient appointments for audiology services within an ENT practice. This role ensures accurate scheduling, timely insurance verification, and completion of prior authorizations to support efficient patient flow and optimal patient care. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and experience working with insurance processes.
Key Responsibilities
Scheduling & Patient Coordination
- Schedule, reschedule, and confirm audiology appointments (hearing tests, hearing aid fittings, follow-ups, etc.)
- Coordinate appointments based on provider availability, testing requirements, and patient needs
- Ensure proper appointment types and time allocations are assigned
- Provide patients with preparation instructions and necessary documentation
Insurance Verification
- Verify patient insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage for audiology services prior to appointments
- Accurately document co-pays, deductibles, and coverage limitations
- Communicate financial responsibility to patients clearly and professionally
Authorizations & Referrals
- Obtain and track prior authorizations for audiology procedures, hearing aids, and diagnostic testing
- Ensure referrals are received and attached to patient appointments when required
- Follow up with insurance companies, referring providers, and patients to prevent delays in care
Administrative Support
- Maintain accurate patient records in the EMR system
- Handle incoming calls related to scheduling, insurance, and general inquiries
- Work closely with audiologists, medical assistants, and front desk staff to ensure smooth operations
- Monitor schedules for gaps, cancellations, and optimization opportunities
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum 1�2 years of medical scheduling experience, preferably in ENT or audiology
- Proven experience with insurance verification and prior authorizations required
