Forester & Turf Manager
- Provides professional advice on the selection, ordering, planting, and maintenance of trees, shrubs, ground covers and turf grasses.
- Inspects and treat plants, trees and turf grass for diseases, parasites, and other issues that may affect the health of plants, trees and turf grass.
- Develops and maintains turf maintenance plans in order to maintain health, sustainability and appearance of athletic fields and county parks.
- Trains and supervises staff at each location/park to get all sports fields and parks to an acceptable level.
- Responsible for maintaining a tree trimming plan and implementing best practices in tree management.
- Performs soil-based testing and analysis of grounds and turf areas to diagnose problems such as disease, insects, and weeds.
- Responsible for lining all sports fields including baseball fields, football fields and soccer fields.
- Ensures all fields are properly irrigated.
- Identifies risks for participants using the sports fields.
- Approves personnel actions, such as, new hire selection, employee transfers, promotions, discipline, including terminations, subject to Parks Director’s review.
- Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Undergraduate degree in Horticulture, Turf Grass Management or related field.
- 5 years of staff management experience
- Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) Certification with weed and pest control categories.
SALARY: $25.71-$32.14/HOURLY-FULL TIME
