The Business Analyst Intern – Finance & Information Systems supports enterprise system initiatives by assisting with the documentation and analysis of business needs with technical solutions. This role supports Finance, IT, and Product teams to analyze processes, validate data, and contribute to system migration and implementation efforts. Through hands-on project experience, the intern will develop skills in business analysis, financial data interpretation, and systems support while helping ensure accurate, efficient, and scalable technology solutions. This role is ideal for students seeking exposure to how finance, data, and technology intersect to drive business outcomes.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Business Analysis & Process Improvement
Assist in gathering, analyzing, and documenting business and financial requirements to support system implementations and migrations
Support the evaluation of current processes to identify inefficiencies, data gaps, and opportunities for optimization
Help translate business needs into clear functional requirements and process documentation
Systems Implementation & Support
Assist with system migration activities, including data validation, reconciliation, and issue identification and escalation
Support testing efforts by developing test cases, executing test plans, and documenting results
Track and help resolve issues to ensure system accuracy and performance
Data & Financial Analysis
Analyze financial data sets to support decision-making and validate system outputs
Support data integrity across systems during migration and integration efforts
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Project Support
Assist Finance, IT, and Project Management teams to align on requirements and deliverables
Provide project coordination support, including tracking timelines, milestones, and action items
Contribute to training materials, user guides, and process documentation to support end users
Required Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Ability to understand business needs and help document structured requirements
Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams
Organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Basic understanding of financial principles and business processes
Familiarity with systems, databases or data analysis concepts
Exposure to tools or languages such as SQL, Excel or Python is a plus
Qualifications:
Education:
Enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in Finance, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a related field
Experience:
Relevant coursework or project experience in business analysis, finance, or systems preferred.
Working Conditions:
Office and Remote work.
Remote - not to exceed 25 hours per week
Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (flexibility may be available based on academic schedule)
Work is performed under close guidance and supervision as part of a project team
