The Opportunity: Cultivating Infinite Potential

In Ferguson-Florissant, we believe that every child—regardless of their starting point—deserves a world-class beginning. We are looking for a patient, observant, and high-energy ECSE Instructional Aide to join our "New Chapter." You aren't just an "assistant"; you are a vital interventionist. You are the specialist who provides the structured, positive environment where children with diverse learning needs, including those on the autism spectrum, can find their voice and build their foundation.

If you have a deep sensitivity to the needs of young children with special needs and the confidence to work one-on-one toward life-changing milestones, your next chapter starts here.

Role Summary

As an ECSE Aide, you work as a key member of a multidisciplinary team—including teachers, therapists, and specialists—to provide a high-quality intervention program. Your focus is on the "whole child," with a heavy emphasis on communication skills and social-emotional development. By following specialized instructional approaches and maintaining a highly organized learning environment, you ensure that our youngest scholars with special needs have the tools they need to navigate the world with confidence.

Why You’ll Succeed (Qualifications)

  • Educationally Prepared: Must have successfully completed at least sixty (60) college credit hours. Preference is given to those with coursework in Early Childhood or Special Education.

  • Certified Professional: Must possess or be eligible to obtain a Missouri Substitute Teaching Certificate.

  • Developmental Expert: You have a solid understanding of early childhood development and experience working with young children.

  • The "Patient" Specialist: You possess a deep sensitivity to the feelings and unique needs of children with autism and other developmental delays.

  • Team-Oriented & Professional: You have the ability to work smoothly within a team and maintain the highest ethical standards of behavior and confidentiality.

Your Impact (Key Duties)

  • Individualized Intervention: Work one-on-one or in small groups to reinforce specialized learning goals, following the teacher’s approach to provide a consistent and predictable experience for students.

  • Behavioral Excellence: Utilize a consistently positive, restorative approach to managing all behaviors, helping students regulate their emotions and engage with their peers.

  • Communication Catalyst: Assist in developing a learning environment that prioritizes the growth of communication and social skills through play and structured activities.

  • Observational Insight: Use keen observational skills to learn each child's unique triggers and triumphs, alerting the teacher to any special information or progress.

  • Classroom Stewardship: Maintain the organization necessary for a successful ECSE program—preparing activities, maintaining an orderly room, and ensuring materials are clean and accessible.

  • Professional Modeling: Serve as a positive model for children and parents through your professional ethics, appearance, and reliable attendance.
