OVERVIEW – PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR (NIGHT SHIFT – TRAINING ON DAYS, TRANSITION TO NIGHTS)
Reporting to the Manager, Production, the Production Supervisor is responsible for the safe, efficient, and consistent daily operations of the plant. This role oversees resin blending, module production, and order preparation activities to ensure production targets, safety standards, and quality expectations are consistently met.
This position is part of the RS leadership team and plays a key role in driving a strong production, safety, and quality-focused culture, aligned with RS values of Safety, Respect, Resilience, and Teamwork. The role will begin with day shift training before transitioning into a night shift Production Supervisor position.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise and coordinate daily production operations, including resin blending, module production, and order preparation
Lead, support, and coordinate production operators, skilled trades, and maintenance teams
Assist with production scheduling and workforce allocation to meet output requirements
Ensure effective cross-training of production staff across all areas of the production process
Conduct daily shift communication meetings and ensure clear production handoffs
Maintain a strong presence on the floor to troubleshoot production and operational issues in real time
Ensure adherence to production schedules and achievement of daily/weekly production targets
Monitor and support material availability to avoid production interruptions
Collaborate closely with the Quality team to identify, investigate, and resolve production quality issues
Communicate production performance, quality concerns, and operational updates to the Production Manager, Quality Control Manager, and Director of Operations
Conduct monthly safety talks and reinforce all safety, quality, and production standards
Ensure full compliance with PPE requirements and all safety procedures at all times
Report and escalate equipment issues to the Director of Operations promptly
Conduct attendance tracking, vacation coordination, and support workforce planning
Apply progressive discipline as required in alignment with company policies
Manage employee utilization during downtime to maintain productivity
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on production efficiency, safety, and quality
Assist in evaluating and implementing new production processes, equipment, and improvements
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production environment
Ensure compliance with all company policies, as well as provincial and federal regulations
Perform other duties as assigned
TRAINING / QUALIFICATIONS
3–5 years of manufacturing or production supervision experience
Strong understanding of production operations, quality control, and safety compliance
Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and applicable labor legislation
Experience in lean manufacturing principles (preferred)
Six Sigma certification (asset)
Knowledge of 5S and continuous improvement practices (asset)
Proficient in Microsoft Office, including intermediate Excel and Word skills
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced production environment
WORKING CONDITIONS
Night shift position (with initial training on day shift prior to transition)
Industrial manufacturing/production environment
Exposure to hot, humid, and high-activity work areas
Physically demanding role with active floor presence required
Interaction with heavy machinery, moving equipment, and production chemicals
