Job Summary:

The Senior Data Analytics Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting enterprise data solutions using Microsoft Fabric, Microsoft SQL Server, and Power BI. This position requires technical expertise to ensure high-quality, and scalable data products that align with SunOpta’s business goals. This position will manage daily activities as well as project priorities and work closely with stakeholders to provide valuable insights. The ideal candidate should have strong skills in data architecture, BI reporting, and modern data platforms, as well as proven abilities in communication.

Candidates must show initiative, possess excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities, and be effective team players while also taking responsibility for their individual contributions. A high aptitude and strong desire for continuous learning are essential.

Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Develop and optimize data solutions in Microsoft Fabric and SQL Server.
  • Design and implement ETL/ELT pipelines, data models, and data warehouses/lakehouses.
  • Oversee the development of advanced dashboards and analytics in Power BI to enable self-service insights.
  • Support the migration of an existing environment developed in traditional MS SQL to MS Fabric
  • Collaborate with IT and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless integration of data platforms with existing systems.
  • Provide technical leadership in troubleshooting complex data issues and resolving system bottlenecks.
  • Support data migration initiatives, ensuring secure and efficient transfer of data across platforms and environments.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Ensure best practices for data governance, security, and compliance are followed.
  • Create and maintain documentation for data processes, architecture, and standards.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, BI, or analytics roles.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL, performance tuning, database design).
  • Proven experience with Microsoft Fabric (OneLake, Data Factory, Synapse, Power BI integration).
  • Advanced expertise in Power BI including DAX, Power Query, and data modeling.
  • Excellent collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.

Preferred Knowledge & Skills

  • Experience with data governance frameworks (e.g., security, cataloging, lineage).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure preferred).
  • Knowledge of APIs, data integrations, and real-time data streaming.
  • Experience managing Agile or Scrum-based teams.
  • Microsoft certifications in Data Engineering, BI, or Azure.

Additional Considerations:

  • This is a hybrid office position based in Eden Prairie, MN.
  • This hybrid work model has certain days of the week designated for in-person (onsite) collaboration, while other days allow the opportunity to work remotely.
  • Interview process will include an in-person interview onsite in Eden Prairie.
  • Must be available for escalations during an on-call rotation: nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Relocation or international remote working arrangements (outside of the US) will not be considered.
