Position Overview
At Unified Door & Hardware Group (UDHG), the Janitor (Custodian) is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and well-functioning facility. This role supports daily operations by performing routine cleaning, minor maintenance, and facility upkeep, ensuring a professional environment for employees, customers, and visitors.
- Vacuum, sweep, and mop floors throughout the facility
- Clean and dust walls, tables, doors, light fixtures, vending machines, and windows
- Clean and disinfect restrooms, including toilets, urinals, showers, and tile floors
- Refill soap, paper towel, and toilet paper dispensers
- Empty trash and maintain clean waste receptacles
- Pick up litter inside and outside the facility
- Perform minor preventative maintenance and basic repairs
- Report major maintenance issues or repair needs to management
- Assist service personnel and vendors as needed
- Support snow removal efforts when required
- Set up rooms and common areas for meetings and activities
- Maintain facility security and ensure safe conditions
- Complete cleaning logs, checklists, and required documentation
- Communicate effectively with management regarding issues or concerns
- Maintain professional and courteous interactions with employees, visitors, and vendors
- Assist team members as needed to support overall operations
- Perform other duties as assigned to support Facilities and corporate objectives
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed
- Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods (45%–66%+ of the work shift)
- Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, and climbing stairs
- Ability to push and maneuver heavy cleaning equipment and carts
- Ability to operate cleaning machinery (e.g., floor scrubbers)
- Requires continuous movement and physical activity throughout the shift
- Must possess sufficient physical stamina to perform repetitive cleaning tasks
- Basic knowledge of cleaning techniques and maintenance procedures
- Understanding of safety practices and OSHA guidelines
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently
- Ability to use standard cleaning equipment (vacuums, mops, brooms, etc.)
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed
- Previous janitorial or custodial experience
- Strong attention to detail
- Dependable and self-motivated
- Ability to communicate basic information effectively
- Base: $22.00-$26.00 per hour
