Job Description

Job Title: Security Guard



Immediate Supervisor: Executive Director



Job Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt



Job Summary: The Security Guard ensures the safety and security of clients, staff, visitors, and Robert M. Greer Center property. This role involves patrolling the premises, responding to emergencies, and enforcing facility policies—primarily during night shifts, weekends, and holidays. Sensitivity to the needs and rights of clients is essential.



Key Responsibilities:



· Conduct regular foot and vehicle patrols of the facility’s buildings, grounds, and perimeter.



· Monitor facility grounds for unusual activity.



· Control access to the facility—verify identity of visitors, vendors, and staff after hours.



· Respond promptly to incidents, alarms, and emergencies such as fire, medical, or behavioral events.



· Maintain accurate and detailed logs of all security-related activities, incidents, and observations.



· Enforce facility policies and ensure compliance with safety regulations.



· Work cooperatively with on-site direct support professional, nursing, behavioral, and administrative staff.



· Report safety hazards, maintenance issues, or suspicious behavior to the appropriate personnel.



· Provide escort services to staff or intervene with clients only as necessary using Professional Crisis Management.



· Assist in emergency evacuations and weather drills.



· Ensure quiet and calm environment conducive to the clients’ safety and well-being.



· Participate in searches for missing clients.



· Monitor parking.



Work Environment:




  • This position involves working in various settings, including residential homes, community environments, indoors and outdoors, exposed to various weather conditions, and potentially the workplace of the individual being supported.



Additional Work Hours: This position may require overtime based on client needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. The candidate should be flexible and willing to adjust their schedule as needed to ensure client and regulatory success.
