The SBA Closing Specialist requires in-depth knowledge and experience in the review process for SBA loan files and closing settlements. 

 

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:        

  • Manages the process of closing, auditing and packaging loan files. 
  • Oversees and directs the implementation of the loan closing process to ensure all documentation is ready for Bank approval. 
  • Reviews and coordinates the due diligence on guarantors for compliance under the SBA’s SOP guidelines.
  • Engages communications with borrowers, brokers, title companies, appraisers and insurance companies for required reporting and review. 
  • Manages the daily workflow to ensure that loan commitment deadlines are met.
  • Organizes the loan disbursement process, file maintenance, adjustments, reconciliations and other loan system functions.
  • Controls the closing pipeline and participates in loan committee meetings. 
  • Independently schedules and directs loan closing proceedings in a timely manner.
  • Draft the SBA Terms & Conditions in accordance of the loan approval and SBA’s SOP’s.
  • Obtain loan approval through ETRAN under PLP Authority.
  • Maintains superior customer service when obtaining all SBA documentation. 
  • Assume other responsibilities or special duties associated with the function of the department as delegated by SBA Supervisor.
  • Oversee and collaborate with team members to ensure accuracy on all loans.

 

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 5-10 years of banking and commercial lending experience
  • BS or BA Degree in Business Administration or related field experience
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with SBA closing requirements
  • Ability to analyze a loan approval and loan file to ensure all necessary documentation is obtained during the closing process  
  • Prior experience working within an SBA lending team is strongly encouraged.
  • Demonstrates the ability to coach, lead, and motivate.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good oral written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of software/systems required to successfully perform job function.
  • Proven history of managing high volume workflows.
