    TITLE:        Director of Technology
    12 month Position | Work Hours 7:30am-4:00pm

    POSITION OVERVIEW:    

    The Director of Technology provides strategic leadership for all technology operations, data systems, and digital infrastructure across the district. This role shapes how technology supports teaching, learning, and district operations�from network security and systems to data governance and analytics. The Director of Technology leads a team responsible for maintaining reliable, secure systems while building the data infrastructure needed to inform decisions at every level of the organization.


    QUALIFICATIONS: 

    • Minimum of five years of successful experience in an educational setting (K-8 preferred)
    • Deep knowledge of data systems, integrations, and analytics platforms
    • Proven experience managing enterprise applications (SIS, LMS)
    • Strong understanding of network infrastructure, cloud services, and cybersecurity
    • Demonstrated success leading technical teams and managing budgets
    • Knowledge of data privacy laws and compliance requirements in education
    • Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences
    • Demonstrated professional experience in a technology leadership role preferred
    • Type 75 preferred


    REPORTS TO:    Superintendent 
     

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1.   Provides leadership and guidance to assure effective use of instructional technology integrated with the learning experience. 

    • Develops guides and instructional materials.
    • Assists administrators in assessing needs and exploring ways in which technology can help meet identified needs.
    • Works with the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction and curriculum committees to match hardware, software, and professional development with curricular goals.
    • Provides guidance to administrators in planning instructional technology.
    • Prepares documents relating to use of instructional technology in the district. 

    2.  Provides staff support to ensure effective use of instructional technology. 

    • Plans, conducts, and evaluates in-service training sessions to introduce staff to appropriate hardware, software, and integrated technology pedagogy.
    • Assists staff in integrating instructional technology into their lessons.
    • Trains and supports staff to become knowledgeable about or comfortable with technology. 

    3. Uses technology to improve communication, directing and coordinating the use of e-mail, district websites, communications platforms, phone systems, and other forms of communication to facilitate decision-making and to enhance effective communication with key stakeholders.

    4.  Supports the operation, deployment, and evaluation of digital learning software. 

    5.  Supports the deployment of end-user devices (students and staff). Including procurement, budgeting, management, support, and life cycle management. 

    6.  Oversees the Google Workspace management, including licensing for users, devices, and applications. 

    7.  Evaluates technology department staff and contributes to the evaluation of other staff as assigned.

    8.  Facilitates training for staff in the use of technology to manage student data. 

    9.  Manages the help desk support system.

    10.  Oversees the District data operations, including, but not limited to, our local student information system, registration, ISBE SIS, and assessment platforms

    11.  Oversees the digital distribution of student report cards and scheduling of parent-teacher conferences.

    12.  Develops guidelines and procedures for District hardware, software and network purchases. 

    13.  Makes recommendations for the selection of equipment, supplies, and professional development related to technology. 

    14.  Directs and supervises budgeting, compliance, grants, e-rate, reporting requirements and data management.

    15.  Performs all other duties as assigned.
