SUMMARY



 



The Product Engineer will provide extensive manufacturing data and suggestions to ensure effective production process is in place and interact with various departments through projects, to meet the company’s current and future growth objectives within existing or future expansion projects.  Will analyze plant requirements, design, manufacturing methods and procedures, process improvement, technical understanding, documentation and technology to optimize all phases of research and production.



 



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.



 




  1. Involvement with new product, process and quality planning, BOM reviews, and tooling reviews to support designed parts and process changes. Liaise with related departments for timely execution of the action items.

  2. Controls product structure and process by reviewing design, specifications, and plan and schedule changes; recommending actions.

  3. Develops product objectives by reviewing product proposals and plans; conferring with management.

  4. Determines product responsibilities by identifying product raw materials, specifications and key physical properties; assigning personnel to phases and elements; reviewing bids from potential vendors.

  5. Determines product specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards; completing technical studies; preparing cost estimates.

  6. Prototyping new products; preparing special samples and enduring the accuracy of product against design drawings.

  7. Confirms product performance by designing and conducting tests.

  8. Analyze the costs, materials and labor requirements and as well, communicate any changes related to and not limited to tooling, layouts (to improve capacity load of product) and material handling to constantly improve the manufacturing process.

  9. Assist with project schedule by studying project plan and specifications; calculating time requirements; sequencing project elements.

  10. Maintains safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations.

  11. Maintains product and company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations.

  12. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.



 



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES



This position does not have any direct supervisory responsibility. This position may remotely supervise projects and key personnel.



 



QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE



Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) or equivalent in Engineering or Business from a four-year college or technical school; or a degree and one-year related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Manufacturing knowledge and experience with a variety of manufacturing processes and materials, specifically sheet molding compound (SMC) and compression molding experience a plus.



 



COMPUTER SKILLS



Must be proficient with MS Office software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc. In addition, must have working knowledge of Adobe PDF documents and CAD software package.



 



LANGUAGE SKILLS



Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to clearly communicate technical related subject matters both written and oral. Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to management.



 



MATHEMATICAL SKILLS



Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory. Ability to work with concepts such as limits, rings, quadratic and differential equations, and proofs of theorems.



 



REASONING ABILITY



Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graph, etc.) in the most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables. Ability to review technical requirements from multiple sources and synthesize into reports, specifications, procedures, etc.

Then noise level in the office environment (about 20% of time) is usually quiet, and the temperature is controlled.



The noise level in the production facility work environment (about 20% of the time) is usually high and requires hearing protection, and it usually requires eye protection. The production work environment is subject to extremes of heat and cold depending upon the season, and may include direct exposure to the weather (outdoor environment).
