Job Description


$19/hour and up based on experience
 1st Shift 6:30 am- 5 pm Monday to Thursday with Overtime on Friday and Saturday as needed for production

Mickey Truck Bodies is seeking a skilled Autobody Painter to join our Finishing Department. This position plays a key role in delivering the high-quality truck bodies and trailers our customers expect. About the Role

The Autobody Painter is responsible for preparing, priming, and painting truck bodies, trailers, and components according to company quality and safety standards. You will ensure all finished surfaces meet durability, appearance, and performance expectations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare surfaces through sanding, masking, cleaning, and priming

  • Mix and match paint colors for accurate finish results

  • Apply paint coatings using spray guns (HVLP)

  • Inspect and correct defects such as sags, runs, or thin spots

  • Follow all safety, environmental, and material-handling procedures

  • Maintain spray guns, paint booths, and equipment

  • Apply undercoats, sealers, and topcoats to various surfaces (metal, fiberglass, composites)

  • Work with production teams to meet job timelines

  • Record paint usage, color codes, and job details

  • Perform touch-ups and final finish repairs


Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum 2 years of autobody or industrial painting experience

  • Strong knowledge of paint prep, application techniques, and materials

  • Experience with HVLP spray equipment

  • Ability to recognize and correct finish defects

Preferred

  • Experience painting truck bodies or trailers

  • Technical/vocational training in paint application


Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent attention to detail and craftsmanship

  • Strong color-matching ability

  • Understanding of OSHA/EPA safety practices

  • Ability to work independently and on a team

  • Dependable, punctual, and organized


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, crawl, climb, and stoop as needed

  • Must have full range of vision including color and depth perception

  • Ability to work in a paint booth and production shop environment

  • Paint booth and shop setting

  • Exposure to noise, fumes, and seasonal temperature changes
