Team Lead Youth Day Treatment Specialist


Location: Cape Girardeau, MO
Full Time: Non-Exempt - 40 hours/week, Day Shift Schedule

Base Pay: $20.20 - 22.60/hour dependent upon relevant experiences
Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Human Services Field; or
  • Occupational therapist, Physical therapist, Assistant behavior analyst; or,
  • Associates degree and two years of experience working with mental health or child population; or,
  • Two years of college and two years of experience working with mental health or child populations.
  • Must hold or obtain by start date, MO Class E Driver's License (Class D for IL Residents), and proof of continuous auto insurance. Must also meet CCC's Motor Vehicle Record standards policy and have reliable transportation.

Community Counseling Center is looking for a Floating Youth Day Treatment Specialist for our Cape Girardeau, Jackson, and Perryville YDT programs. This position works closely with our youth population that suffers from mental and behavioral health issues which impacts their day-to-day activities. This position would be responsible for floating between the various programs as needed. Mileage reimbursement is given, and the employee's "home base" would be dependent upon their location.


The Program
The Youth Day Treatment program provides services to youth in grades k-12 who require a step-down or an alternative to inpatient care or partial hospitalization, or as transitional care following an inpatient or partial hospitalization stay in order to facilitate return to the community or to prevent or minimize the need for more intense or restrictive level of treatment. The Day Treatment Program provides services that are more intensive than outpatient treatment and will serve persons who need a structured, behavioral health setting for daytime activities.

The Job

As a YDT Specialist Team Lead, Responsible for providing interventions to youth in the Day Treatment Program for the purpose of helping youth remain in the school, community and in the home. Responsible for providing guidance and is the point of contact when the Program manager is not available.


Essential Functions

  1. Attend to the needs of and aid youth during Day Treatment activities and within the community, under the direction of the Day Treatment Manager.
  2. Give feedback regarding behavior, skills, and peer interactions during Treatment Team Meetings.
  3. Teaching skills and modeling appropriate pro-social interactions, based on youth's treatment plan.
  4. Document according to clinical policies and procedures, DMH, CARF, and any other federal or state program per agency standards.
  5. Attend to the needs of youth through phone calls to parents, as directed by program manager.
  6. Assist with facilitating family activities, directed by the Program Manager.
  7. Work with an integrated treatment team, including case managers, psychiatrists, and the school's administrative staff to provide consistent care.
  8. Float between Youth Day Treatment locations, providing support &/or coverage, as required.
  9. Ensure the safety and welfare of the clients and program according to policies and procedures.
  10. Provide and support Youth Day Treatment Specialist and Family Assistance Worker through chart reviews and non-clinical supervision.
  11. Complete and chart client observations in accordance with agency policy
  12. Conduct vehicle upkeep, documentation, and general vehicle maintenance
  13. Compile van routes for client care and coordination involving transportation to and from programming.
  14. Responsible for transporting clients in agency and/or personal vehicle as deemed necessary and appropriate to meet program requirements.
  15. Complete meal plans and shopping lists as needed.
  16. Intervene in behavioral health crisis situations, when needed, which may include use of seclusion and/or restrain interventions to prevent self-harm or harm to others.
  17. Based on need, provide seclusion and/or restraint interventions in accordance with Pro-Act guidelines and agency policy and procedure.
  18. Maintain certification in Pro-ACT and CPR/First Aid.
