KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serves in the role of PhD Placements Lead (PPL) for the Doctoral Program in Epidemiology at the Rollins School of Public Health (RSPH) and Laney Graduate School (LGS). The appointment will be in effect from May 1, 2026 through April 30, 2027, with an option to renew with our mutual consent. The appointment can be terminated by the chair at any time for cause or with sixty days’ notice without cause. The PPL may resign the appointment with 60 days’ notice.
In this role, the appointed candidate will be responsible for the review and approval of documents submitted by PhD students and their advisors pertaining to roles and progress within the doctoral program. For each document type, they will assure that required forms have been submitted by the expected date, that the forms are complete, consistent across forms, and that the objectives reflect expectations needed to assure timely completion of the degree requirements and adequate preparation for post-graduate work. These documents include:
· Individual development plan (submitted annually, with updates as needed)
· Research and teaching appointments (submitted every semester)
· Research Hours forms (submitted every semester)
· Research rotation and primary data collection proposals (submitted ~once by each student, typically in first and second years)
In addition, the PPL will meet as needed with the PhD DGS, Associate Director of Academic Programs assigned to the program, Department Chair, students, advisors, and Laney Graduate School to assure understanding of any revised expectations, problem areas, students or advisors of concern, etc.
