Job Description

Laborer Full-Time – 12 Months - 2nd Shift


 


High School –2nd Shift (3:30 p.m. – 12:00 a.m.)


Salary $22.50/hour + 5% Shift Differential

RESPONSIBILITIES:


The work involves performing routine manual work requiring physical endurance and willingness to perform a variety of routine and repetitive tasks.  Direct supervision is received from a supervisor or higher-ranking employee who makes work assignments and reviews completed work.   Direction may be exercised by this class over seasonal and lower ranking maintenance and learning personnel. Typical work activities include:


 



  • Cleans and services buildings by sweeping and mopping offices, stairways, halls, etc.;

  • Waxes and buffs floors with mechanical equipment;

  • Oils, lubricates, or greases motors found in engine rooms, elevators, etc.;

  • Cleans lighting fixtures, replaces light bulbs, and washes windows, moves furniture and equipment and washes walls and floors;

  • Assists with outside work such as sweeping walks, snow removal, cutting lawns, trimming hedges, etc.;

  • Loads and unloads trucks;

  • Cleans and performs maintenance duties on buses, trucks, tractors; and tools;

  • Picks up and disposes trash or soiled linen;

  • Complies with various Occupational Safety and Health Administration laws and regulations, including reading and understanding Material Safety Data Sheets relating to hazardous materials and other substances;

  • Acts as a messenger;

  • Does related work as required.


KNOWLEDGE:


Working knowledge of the maintenance and repair of buildings, fixtures, and equipment; ability to make a variety of simple repairs and adjustments to buildings and equipment; ability to lift medium weights; willingness to perform routine manual work; willingness to work under all weather conditions; physical endurance; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
