Duties and Responsibilities: 

Teaching and Instruction

  • Teach and develop undergraduate core and elective courses in health care administration, health policy, health care finance, contemporary issues, health care ethics, cultural competence in healthcare, program planning and evaluation in health care, community health, and other courses as needed for traditional, hybrid, and distributed learning modalities.
  • Courses are taught to students enrolled in a B.A. in Public Administration with a concentration in Health Care Administration and those enrolled in an upper-division Certificate in Health Care Administration program.
  • Supervise senior projects, administrative practicum, and independent study activities.

Scholarly Activity, Research, and Creative Endeavors

  • Conduct scholarly and research activities in areas related to teaching.
  • Participate in curriculum development activities including the development of curricular materials and special instructional methods.
  • Network with professional and community health organizations to develop additional practicum sites for student internships.

Service

  • Render service to the professional community relevant to academic specialty.
  • Serve on program, division, and university committees.
  • Serve as faculty advisor for students in the program and in the student club.

Perform other related tasks and duties as assigned. 


Minimum Qualifications:  

  1. Earned PhD from an accredited university in Health Administration, Health Policy and Management, Public Administration with a Specialization in Health Administration, Public Health, or a very closely related field. An ABD will be considered, provided applicant completes dissertation by date of hire.
  2. Teaching experience at the college or university level and demonstrated excellence in teaching.
  3. Evidence of scholarly and applied research activities related to the areas of teaching.
  4. Ability to plan and organize assigned activities and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Desirable Qualifications: 

  1. Ability to interact effectively in a multicultural setting; experience in working with various communities; and demonstrated excellence in teaching students from varied backgrounds and cultures.
  2. Demonstrated ability to teach distance education courses.
  3. Experience with course assessment and institutional accreditation.
  4. Published research in peer reviewed journals in areas relevant to teaching.
