About the Department

Lincoln Transportation and Utilities is seeking a skilled Utility Electrical Technician to support our Wastewater Division. In this role, you'll work hands-on with advanced electrical, instrumentation, and control systems that keep essential treatment and pumping operations functioning safely and efficiently for our community.

 
If you're a self-sufficient Electrical Technician and you want to use your knowledge and experience to repair, maintain and improve vital City of Lincoln infrastructure, this position is ideal for you. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to operate both independently, and in a team built of Electricians and Technicians from diverse electrical backgrounds on a variety of tasks, much of which is complex maintenance of electrical gear rated from 480 up to 12,800 Volts AC.

What You'll Do
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, install and repair electrical, electronic, and pneumatic equipment
  • Complete preventative and corrective maintenance work orders
  • Diagnose issues with PLC/SCADA systems and support system reliability
  • Schedule and coordinate work with operations staff 
  • Respond to emergency maintenance needs
  • Assist with system upgrades, vendor coordination, and SCADA support
  • Maintain accurate records, schematics, and inventory
*This role requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, work at heights, work on ladders/scaffolds, work in confined spaces.

Work Location: This position reports to the NE Lincoln Water Resource Recovery Facility, 7000 N 70th, Lincoln, NE but does operate at various locations throughout the city as needed.
 
Work Schedule: 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from a senior high school or equivalent and two years of experience as an industrial electrician in the repair and maintenance of electrical power and control equipment; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the desirable knowledge, abilities and skills.

Necessary Special Requirements
Possession of a valid driver's license when operating a vehicle is necessary for the satisfactory performance of assigned duties.
Possession of a valid Electrical Contractor's License or State of Nebraska Journeyman’s Electrician License.
