Job Description

Description

As the Operations Manager Drying and Storage you will ensure that drying and storage practices consistently deliver rice that meets LFF’s strict quality standards. You’ll collaborate with operations, agricultural, and milling teams — as well as industry partners — to improve yields, refine processes, and maintain our leadership in sustainable rice production.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee harvest receiving, drying, and storage processes while ensuring identity preservation across all LFF rice varieties
  • Collaborate with Drying & Storage leaders to plan staffing, maintenance, and production schedules based on crop needs, budget, and capacity
  • Monitor rice quality, dryness, and moisture consistency, coordinating with the rough rice lab and mill teams to align drying standards with milling performance
  • Evaluate and implement continuous improvements in drying methods and plant technology to optimize quality, safety, and efficiency
  • Develop and manage budgets, and plan for equipment upgrades and facility improvements
  • Lead sanitation efforts, organizing debris removal and overseeing pest prevention in collaboration with the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) team
  • Oversee safe and compliant use of CO2 applications for pest control, ensuring recycling programs are properly executed and monitored
  • Build key relationships with industry organizations such as the California Warehouse Association, California Rice Commission, and the Grain Elevator and Processing Society (GEAPS)

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or related field (Associate degree with equivalent experience considered)
  • 7–10 years of experience in rice drying, storage, or food-grain facility management, including leadership or supervisory experience
  • Strong understanding of grain handling, drying systems, and CO2 conditioning for insect control
  • Knowledge of basic mechanics, electrical systems, and equipment maintenance principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint)
  • Valid CA driver’s license (or equivalent) and ability to meet company insurability standards
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus
