The Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) is a licensed independent practitioner. The FNP assesses patient health by interviewing patients, performing physical examinations, obtaining, updating, and studying medical histories. He/she determines abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests, such as X-rays, electrocardiograms, and laboratory studies; interpreting test results. 

Frequent communication outside of the work group is required to resolve disagreements, reach agreements, and clarify issues/processes. Responsibility exists to ensure that internal customers are satisfied with service. Communicates with external contacts frequently and is responsible for ensuring ongoing service. 

Requirements

Education: 

  • Master's degree from an accredited nurse practitioner program 

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of Maryland. 
  • CDS, DEA, CPR.

Experience:

  • One year of experience in the specialty area.
  • Two or more years of Nurse Practitioner experience in Family Medicine.
