Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate educator to join our team at Orange County High as a Family & Consumer Science Teacher. This full-time position involves fostering a positive learning environment that promotes student engagement and growth in various aspects of family and consumer sciences, including nutrition, personal finance, human development, and family relationships. The ideal candidate will be committed to empowering students with practical skills and knowledge that they can apply in their daily lives.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state standards and meet the diverse needs of students.
- Teach a comprehensive curriculum that covers topics such as nutrition, culinary arts, family dynamics, personal finance, and consumer education.
- Create a positive classroom environment that encourages student participation, collaboration, and respect.
- Assess and evaluate student performance through assignments, projects, and exams; provide constructive feedback to support student growth.
- Foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills through hands-on projects and real-world applications.
- Collaborate with colleagues to integrate interdisciplinary approaches and enhance the overall educational experience.
- Communicate regularly with students, parents, and guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in education and family and consumer sciences.
- Organize and supervise extracurricular activities related to family and consumer sciences, such as cooking clubs, financial literacy workshops, or community service projects.
- Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment that meets health and safety standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Family and Consumer Sciences, Home Economics, Education, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification in Family and Consumer Sciences or the ability to obtain certification.
- Strong knowledge of family and consumer sciences principles and practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
- Demonstrated ability to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Experience in lesson planning and curriculum development is preferred.
- Proficient in using technology and educational tools to enhance learning experiences.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and collaboration with colleagues.
- Previous teaching experience in a high school setting is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
**Salary scale based on the 2025-2026 school year.
