A Day in the Life
The Sales Manager – Pelvic Health Italy is a senior, high autonomy leadership role responsible for driving commercial performance, business development, and team execution across Italy.Reporting directly to the Regional Business Director, this role owns the full commercial agenda in Italy, including sales execution, business development, competitive strategy, and deep engagement with the Italian healthcare system (public and private hospitals, funding mechanisms, tenders, and reimbursement).
This role is ideal for an experienced medical device leader with a strong entrepreneurial mindset, capable of operating with independence, shaping strategy locally, and leading teams through complexity and change.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Leadership & Execution
- Plan, direct, and monitor the activities of the Italian sales organization to achieve established sales and patient growth targets.
- Own day‑to‑day commercial execution, translating regional strategy into effective local action.
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of experienced sales professionals and distributors, ensuring disciplined execution, accountability, and continuous performance improvement.
- Drive territory management excellence, including prioritization of key accounts and resource allocation.
Business Development & Strategy
- Develop and implement business strategies for existing and potential accounts to increase therapy adoption and market share.
- Identify growth opportunities across indications (OAB, FI, NOUR) and care pathways.
- Adapt and deploy business development initiatives tailored to the specificities of the Italian healthcare environment.
- Conduct competitive analysis (including Boston Scientific and other competitors) and implement robust defense and growth strategies.
Healthcare System & Stakeholder Management (Critical)
- Demonstrate deep mastery of the Italian healthcare system, including:
- Medical device funding mechanisms
- Public and private hospital dynamics
- Tendering processes and procurement pathways
- Regional and local decision‑making structures
- Act as a trusted partner to key hospital stakeholders, KOLs, and healthcare professionals.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key account personnel, hospital management, clinical leaders, and relevant internal functions.
- Contribute actively to removing barriers to patient access and therapy adoption.
Leadership, Autonomy & Regional Collaboration
- Operate with a high level of autonomy, owning priorities, decisions, and execution within agreed regional guardrails.
- Act as a strong local leader and decision‑maker, without dependency on daily regional intervention.
- Serve as a key thought partner to the Regional Business Director, contributing to strategic discussions and regional alignment.
- Collaborate closely with cross‑functional partners (Marketing, Market Access, Clinical, Market Development) locally and at Out Of US level.
Leadership & Organizational Impact
- Manage and develop a small‑to‑mid‑sized team of experienced sales professionals and distributors who operate with independence and accountability.
- Translate strategic direction into measurable commercial outcomes, including revenue growth, market share expansion, and improved operational efficiency.
- Monitor local performance by conducting regular sales calls, monthly quick reviews and a quarterly business deep dive review of each territory.
- Continuously improve sales processes, tools, and ways of working to enhance team performance.
- Lead through influence, clarity, and credibility in a complex and evolving environment.
Required Knowledge & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent); healthcare or life sciences background preferred.
- Significant experience (5–10+ years) in medical devices, medtech, or healthcare, including sales leadership and/or market development roles.
- Proven experience navigating the Italian healthcare system, particularly:
- Hospital funding and reimbursement
- Medical device procurement and tenders
- Demonstrated ability to drive growth in complex, competitive markets.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and people development skills.
- High level of autonomy, ownership, and comfort with ambiguity.
- Strong stakeholder management and cross‑functional influence skills.
- Fluency in Italian and English (written and spoken).
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively within Italy and occasionally internationally.
