JOB LOCATION : Main Campus

DEPARTMENT: FOOD SERVICES

SCHEDULE: Full Time, Varied Hours/Shift, 13

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for patient meal service food on assigned units, e.g., menu selections, tray assembly, tray delivery and pick-up, special requests and needs, in-between meal food delivery. Communicate patient food issues/concerns and needs to Food & Nutrition Services, and interacts with Nursing in regards to patient nutrition needs or requirements. Assist dietitian with monitoring of patients on NPO, clear liquid and full liquid diets and records food intake for patients on intake analysis. React accurately and effectively to all changes to ensure efficient timing of services, accuracy of physician’s ordered modified diets. Is familiar with dietary restrictions on special, modified diets to ensure optimal patient care and satisfaction. Responsible for patient satisfaction on assigned units. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES 

  • High School diploma, preferred. Must have the ability to read, write and speak English (or other languages as necessary), follow written and verbal instructions and complete simple computational skills. 
  • Experience in health care environment desirable, but not required. 
  • Strong verbal communication, reading, and writing abilities required. Be able to interact with patients and staff congenially. 
WORKING CONDITIONS - ADA INFORMATION 
  • Continuously exposed to loud noise, slippery surfaces. Frequently exposed to moving objects, wetness. Occasionally exposed to chemicals. Rarely exposed to blood, body tissue/fluids, dust special clothing/safety equipment, potential hazard, potential burns. Must be able to lift objects weighing 30 pounds or less occasionally. Must be able to hear normal sounds with some background noise, as in answering a telephone, continuously. Must be able to stand in place one hour per shift. Must be able to remember multiple tasks/assignments given to self and others over long periods of time occasionally. Able to push food cart with filled trays. Able to bend and reach to remove trays from lowest and highest point of food cart. Able to carry tray from cart to patient room. Frequently required to bend, twist, turn, reach out/up. Occasionally climb stairs. Able to lift and carry objects weighing 10 pounds or less frequently. 20-30 pounds on occasion. Able to perform motor skills such as wrist turning, grasping, pinching, finger manipulation, continuously.
