Position Open Until Filled - First Screening Date: 5/7/26

Days/Hours: Not to exceed 20 hours for half days, 40 hours for full days

Half Day (3.5 Hours): Monday - Friday 8:15 am - 11:15 am

Full Day: Monday - Friday 8:15 am - 2:45 pm

Hours may be added if more students register

Note - Preference will be given to internal candidates first.

Job Summary:

The Hoquiam School District is seeking a passionate and dedicated KinderKamp Teacher to support our summer program for incoming kindergarten students. This role is ideal for an experienced educator who is committed to building strong relationships, engaging young learners, and providing a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment. The teacher will work collaboratively with fellow staff to implement developmentally appropriate instruction aligned with the district’s mission and values.

Key Responsibilities:

Meaningful Relationships:

  • Create a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom where students feel welcomed and supported.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students, families, and staff to promote student success.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure consistency and support across the program.

Engaged Learners:

  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lessons that foster student engagement and curiosity.
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies to reach learners with diverse needs and interests.
  • Monitor student progress through formal and informal assessments and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Facilitate enrichment activities that build on student strengths and interests.
  • Provide targeted support for struggling learners.

Adaptive Pathways:

  • Differentiate instruction and group students effectively to meet varying academic and behavioral needs.
  • Adjust classroom routines and instructional approaches as needed to support individual growth.
  • Provide flexible support, including stepping in to assist other classrooms or substitute for staff when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, behavior, and academic progress.

Community Connections:

  • Communicate regularly with families to build positive school-home connections and support student learning.
  • Participate in staff meetings and planning sessions to ensure program alignment with district goals.
  • Represent the KinderKamp program in a professional manner in all interactions with staff, families, and community partners.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate required.
  • Demonstrated success in classroom management and delivering high-quality instruction.
  • Experience with early childhood or primary education preferred.
  • Ability to support diverse learners, especially those who are struggling.
  • Willingness to become First Aid/CPR certified.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to work in a classroom environment with young children.
  • Frequent physical activity required, including standing, walking, kneeling, and lifting up to 24 pounds; must be able to assist with student emergencies as needed.
  • Regular communication with students, families, colleagues, and administrators.
  • May be exposed to noise levels consistent with early childhood classrooms.

Salary: Per CBA


Employment is contingent upon successful clearance of a Washington State Patrol, FBI fingerprint criminal history background check, and Sexual Misconduct background check.
