The Commercial Superintendent oversees all on-site aspects of commercial construction projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and according to plans and specifications. This leadership role acts as the primary point of contact between field crews, subcontractors, and project management, with direct responsibility for job site productivity, quality control, safety compliance, and scheduling. This role requires strong construction knowledge, leadership ability, and excellent problem-solving skills to maintain momentum and efficiency throughout all project phases.

Key Responsibilities
Site & Project Oversight
- Manage and supervise all on-site construction activities and personnel
- Maintain the project schedule by overseeing day-to-day operations
- Ensure adherence to plans, specifications, and building codes
- Coordinate daily with subcontractors, suppliers, and inspectors
- Hold daily safety and coordination meetings with crews and trades
Quality & Safety Management
- Enforce job site safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA and company standards
- Inspect work regularly to ensure high standards of workmanship
- Identify and resolve any design, scheduling, or construction issues in real-time
- Conduct quality control inspections and maintain field logs and reports
Communication & Coordination
- Serve as liaison between the field team and project manager, architect, and owner
- Facilitate clear, proactive communication across all stakeholders
- Provide accurate daily reports on progress, delays, incidents, and manpower
Logistics & Administration
- Manage deliveries, equipment, and material staging
- Maintain updated construction documents (drawings, RFIs, submittals)
- Track and report labor hours and subcontractor work completion
- Approve and oversee timesheets and work tickets
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience as a Superintendent in commercial construction
- Proven track record of successful ground-up or tenant improvement projects
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, safety, scheduling, and reading blueprints
- Ability to lead multiple subcontractor crews simultaneously
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Proficient with construction software (Procore, Buildertrend, PlanGrid, etc.)
- OSHA 30 Certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in multi-phase commercial developments (e.g., medical offices, retail centers, hospitality)
- Background in carpentry or skilled trades
Work Environment
- Full-time, primarily on active construction sites
- May involve early start times, extended hours, and weekend work based on project needs
- Exposure to weather conditions, loud environments, and job site hazards (with required PPE)
