As a new Electrical Maintenance Mechanic in Elkhart, IN, you can expect a dynamic and engaging work environment each day. Your responsibilities will include performing routine maintenance on machinery pivotal to our steel tube production processes, particularly in the mill and slitter areas. Daily tasks will involve troubleshooting electrical systems, executing repairs, and ensuring equipment reliability, which directly impacts our manufacturing capabilities.

You will collaborate closely with fellow mechanics and production staff, fostering a team-oriented atmosphere that emphasizes high performance and problem-solving. Your schedule will be full-time, Monday through Friday, consisting of 8-hour shifts, with the expectation of occasional overtime. It's essential to be adaptable, as you must be available to work all three shifts to support our operations effectively.

BULL MOOSE TUBE COMPANY, a progressive organization dedicated to meeting our customers' perception of quality, has a career opportunity for an Electrical Maintenance Mechanics with a strong electrical and general mechanical background at our Elkhart Indiana manufacturing site.

SUMMARY: Responsible for electrical/mechanical servicing and efficient maintenance of machinery and equipment, physical plant, utilities, and grounds in accordance with state and federal regulations and Company process and procedures. Utilize and operate equipment, material and tools for the purpose of inspection, diagnostics and repair/PM on mills, slitter, tool room equipment and misc facility needs as they arise. Responsible for support capacity of all plant functions, maintaining equipment in an operable, safe capacity. Complies with all safety, quality, customer focus, preventative maintenance and housekeeping standards. All other duties as assigned and expected.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the area in which the employee works is regularly exposed to moving mechanical equipment, parts and vibration. The area in which the employee works with can be exposed to hot or cold environment. The noise levels are mitigated by PPE hearing protection. The work environment also can various- one can expect to work indoors, outdoors as necessary, work in close/confined spaces- at times to be working at heights. The building temperatures vary, ranging from cold in the winter months to temperate summer climes.

 

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE): The PPE described here is mandatory while an employee is on the plant floor performing the essential functions of this job. The employee is required to wears at all times-hard hat, safety glasses, earplugs, metatarsal boots and Kevlar cut-resistant gloves while handling sharp objects. Other PPE as necessary – welding mask, Arc Flash designated PPE, shields for grinding, harnesses for fall protection

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Read and apply micrometer, caliper, gages and tape measure, read and interpret manufacturing recommendations, perform PMS, demonstrate mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic knowledge and aptitude, fork truck, tow motor, understand quality, run overhead crane, lathes, presses grinder experience, Familiarity with PLC's, motor controls, sensors, limit switches and electro/mechanical systems, and 3-phase 480vt equipment, Complete knowledge of Company quality requirements, Maintain inventories of maintenance material, supplies, and repair parts at required levels by initiating request for purchase: periodically review inventory for proper upkeep, Recommend equipment and process improvements to improve efficiency and or achieve cost reduction, Communicate via proper documentation to supervisor and appropriate management resources regarding quality and equipment problems, issues and concerns, Follow all applicable procedures and instructions including but not limited to preventative and routine maintenance, troubleshooting, process improvements, reporting of time and materials consumed as well as actively support business practices set forth by BMT, employees, contractors and other resources., Work with work groups and reams to support the sustainability and continuous improvements of BMT and stakeholders, Maintain regular and reliable attendance, Work cooperatively with others to ensure constructive and productive business relationships, Comply with all Company policies and procedures, Be able to understand and effectively use computerized business systems and other technology and business platforms

QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to build, develop and motivate teams/co workers, cross functional, facilitate group meetings, self motivation.

REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma/equivalent, prior manufacturing experience, machine skills, read and speak English
