SUMMARY
The Elementary Literacy Interventionist provides targeted, evidence-based reading and literacy intervention to students who are identified as needing additional support. This position works closely with classroom teachers, support staff, and administration to improve student literacy outcomes and ensure alignment with district curriculum and MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) frameworks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Provide small-group and individual literacy intervention using research-based instructional strategies and materials.
- Use screening, progress-monitoring, and diagnostic assessments to identify students needing support and monitor growth.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to plan differentiated instruction, share strategies, and support literacy development in core instruction.
- Participate in MTSS team meetings, presenting student data and contributing to intervention planning.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and services provided.
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student goals, progress, and home-support strategies.
- Assist in administering universal screeners and literacy assessments (e.g., DIBELS, AIMSweb, Acadience, NWEA).
- Support implementation of district literacy initiatives, curriculum programs, and assessment systems.
- Provide staff with literacy resources, modeling, and coaching as needed.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with literacy research and best practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal or district administration.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Reading Specialist/Literacy Coach endorsement or advanced degree in Literacy.
- Experience working within an MTSS or RTI framework.
- Prior experience providing small-group literacy intervention at the elementary level.
- Demonstrated success supporting students with diverse learning needs.
EVALUATION
Performance will be evaluated annually by the building principal and/or district administration in accordance with district policies.
