Job Description

Job Summary:  



GLCAC manages this position but is part of a larger coalition to address homelessness within families connected with Lawrence Public School. The position is in the Division of Social Services and is overseen by the GLCAC housing manager. The position will focus on supporting families in accessing and achieving housing stabilization. The program coordinator will help to organize coalition meetings and provide monthly reports for the meetings. In addition, the position will be a liaison with community partners s/he will be expected to be an active and engaged participant in Greater Lawrence's housing and homeless community, representing the interests and priorities of GLCAC. 



Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities:  





  • Oversee staff and review and process all referrals and applications submitted by external partners as well as direct applicants and staff, checking for completeness and accuracy. 







  • Lead staff in managing the complex, changing housing and emergency shelter requirements. 







  • Communicate with partners and vendors to obtain all relevant information and documentation required to process applications in a timely manner. 







  • Provides case management services and assists clients with individualized housing plans. 







  • Maintain and develop relationships with landlords and property managers. Ensure timely payments to landlords. 







  • Obtain resources and services as requested and needed to address client needs, including but not limited to housing applications, language translation assistance, negotiation and mediation with property owners and utility companies, CORI resolution, credit programs and help with financial applications. 







  • Track client referrals and program outcomes and maintain client data and documentation in ENGAGE and SureImpact. 







  • Ensure effective case management is being provided to clients in unison with GLCAC and collateral agencies. 







  • Compile agency and funder reports as designated by requirements. 







  • Develop a housing model that will be implemented with the department to support clients in attaining and retaining housing.




  • Provide community outreach in the service area on resources and service access, as well as presentations to outside organizations as required. 




  • Works with the agency to develop and implement new grants and programs, including collaborating within the agency and outside organizations. 




  • Other duties as assigned  





Skills & Qualifications:  





  • Previous experience, training, or knowledge regarding housing subsidies, And housing stabilization Program 







  • Ability to work independently, prioritize, organize, problem solve and exercise good judgment with minimal supervision. 







  • Skilled coordinating a variety of projects simultaneously; Ability to demonstrate flexibility and creativity. 







  • Experience supervising staff 







  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are required. 







  • Able to work effectively under time pressure and/competing priorities  







  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 







  • Willingness to work flexible, varying hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed. 







  • Bachelor's degree or associate degree in health and human services 







  • Ability to speak Spanish preferred 







  • Ability to work effectively with and meet the needs of people from a diverse range of backgrounds, cultures, and identities, including underserved communities and people from the different racial groups, socioeconomic statuses, nationalities, and languages that make up GLCAC’s clientele, to support the agency’s mission of building a more diverse, equitable and inclusive organization for employees and clients alike.
