The Neshaminy School District is seeking a Special Education Teacher for an Autistic Support Level 2 classroom at the elementary level. This position is for 2026-2027 school year.
Salary and benefits are consistent with the NFT collective bargaining agreement, available on the Neshaminy.org website under Human Resources.
Qualifications include a valid PA certification for K-12 Special Education. Positions may be posted with a specific special education focus or program area. Teachers are hired as special education teachers within the district so that assignments can be adjusted as students' needs evolve from year to year. Special Education teachers in all roles are tasked with providing appropriate learning experiences for all assigned students. Other essential job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Provide specialized instruction aligned to IEP goals across inclusive and self-contained settings.
- Design and maintain structured, predictable learning environments that support student success.
- Deliver instruction in communication, social skills, academics as appropriate, and functional life skills, particularly for students with autism.
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs and Section 504 Plans in compliance with legal and district requirements.
- Collect, analyze, and use student performance data to monitor progress and adjust instruction.
- Implement behavior and support plans using proactive, evidence-based strategies.
- Apply evidence-based autism strategies, including structured teaching and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)-informed practices such as reinforcement, prompting, and shaping, using data-driven approaches to improve social, communication, and learning skills.
- Collaborate with behavior analysts, related service providers such as speech-language pathologists and occupational therapists, and general education teachers.
- Supervise and guide paraprofessionals to ensure consistent instructional and behavioral support.
- Communicate effectively with parents or guardians and other stakeholders.
- Support the use of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems as needed.
- Manage a self-contained classroom and support inclusion opportunities as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to all timelines and compliance requirements.
- Experience working with students with autism is preferred.
Applicants must be in good standing with Act 48 credits. Neshaminy School District requires a valid Child Abuse Clearance, FBI clearance, PA State Police Criminal Check, and completed Act 168 forms for all employees before they may begin work.
