POSITION SUMMARY
Mecklenburg County Park & Recreation is excited to add an Electrical Maintenance and Operations Coordinator to the team! This position will oversee electrical installations and repairs across Mecklenburg County’s Park system. This includes but is not limited to installing and repairing outlets, lighting, breakers, panel boxes and wiring. Additionally, the incumbent will oversee all electrical needs at our athletic fields and recreation facilities. They will also work closely with internal staff and external vendors on projects, serving as a team leader in many cases. The preferred candidate will have extensive commercial electrical experience and be well-versed in completing new installations as well as repairing existing structures. This full-time role will typically work Monday through Friday, and weekends only as needed based on business/facility needs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
•Class A CDL highly preferred
•Commercial Electrical experience

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
•Plan and coordinate with contractors and vendors; make decisions on repairs and construction in the park system; and orders and schedules delivery of project materials
•Perform site reviews and coordinates completion; determine labor, equipment, and supplies
•Complete monthly OSHA safety inspections on truck, equipment, PPE, etc.
•Monitor and track key performance indicators to determine efficiency and effectiveness of building or equipment operations and systems
•Develop or participate in the development of an annual operations budget for routine and preventative maintenance for facilities and or equipment
•Participate in coordinating and writing bids, specifications, and awards
•Read blueprints and/or sketches, and lay out work to be performed
•Perform brick laying, pipe laying, painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, roofing and other construction tasks
•Perform field maintenance and service work on equipment operated
•Assess and plan semi-skilled and/or skilled activities in buildings, grounds, storm water, and equipment operations
•Operate light/heavy equipment such as excavators, trencher, jetter, loaders, utility vehicles, tractors, mowers and dump trucks
•Obtain permits, schedule inspections, and follow all required trade codes for projects
•May supervise lower level trades staff or serve as a team lead, serve as a lead to community service workers, volunteers and part-timers

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
Minimum of four (4) years of specialized maintenance experience related to assigned area

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Combination of relevant experience and relevant education accepted?: N/A

Licenses/Certifications: Requires a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License and County Driving Privileges; Depending on area of assignment, may require a Class A or Class B CDL; One or more of the following licensures related to job: NC Electrical, Class A CDL, and/or licensure in applicable trade

Computer Skills: General knowledge of applicable computer programs

•Equipment used in maintenance, grounds keeping, and construction
•Occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions applicable to safe operation of this equipment
•Safe work practices and hazards associated with work
•Use of the tools, equipment, supplies, and methods used in the maintenance activities

Skills:
•Operating trucks, small tractors, mowers and similar equipment
•Filling out daily work sheets and other required forms
•Operating a chainsaw and brush cutter, blowers, sweepers and other assigned equipment
•Performing heavy manual labor, sometimes in adverse weather conditions
