Job Description

Qualifications:



  1. Must possess and maintain proper certification as established by state law and the Department of Education

  2. Must be aware of current trends and developments in education.

  3. Must possess related training and/or experience.


Reports to: Principal


Supervises: All students and staff assigned to him/her.


 


The High School Asst. Principal shall:



  1. Interpret, enforce and develop regulations that are in agreement with Board policies, the school handbook and state and federal law.

  2. Be responsible for discipline for students in grades 9-12.

  3. Provide leadership in the recruitment of staff.

  4. Provide leadership for and share responsibility for the development and implementation of staff in-service programs.

  5. Promote staff professional growth, cooperation and self-development.

  6. Supervise and evaluate staff performance.

  7. Administer the master agreements in his/her assigned building.

  8. Develop, maintain, evaluate, implement and enhance curricular and extracurricular programs.

  9. Provide leadership for the planning, development and implementation of the high school’s curriculum.

  10. Use a systematic plan of checks and balances when preparing and supervising the building’s budget.

  11. Foster positive citizen-staff-student relations and effective communication and citizen participation in the school.

  12. Foster good school-community relations by keeping the community aware and responsive.

  13. Plan, organize and supervise recognition programs for school activities.

  14. Provide educational and administrative leadership in making and carrying out decisions for the building.

  15. Anticipate problems and initiate solutions to problems.

  16. Be cognizant of students' and staff members’ rights.

  17. Provide leadership in student management, including in the areas of student attendance, and discipline.
