Qualifications:
- Must possess and maintain proper certification as established by state law and the Department of Education
- Must be aware of current trends and developments in education.
- Must possess related training and/or experience.
Reports to: Principal
Supervises: All students and staff assigned to him/her.
The High School Asst. Principal shall:
- Interpret, enforce and develop regulations that are in agreement with Board policies, the school handbook and state and federal law.
- Be responsible for discipline for students in grades 9-12.
- Provide leadership in the recruitment of staff.
- Provide leadership for and share responsibility for the development and implementation of staff in-service programs.
- Promote staff professional growth, cooperation and self-development.
- Supervise and evaluate staff performance.
- Administer the master agreements in his/her assigned building.
- Develop, maintain, evaluate, implement and enhance curricular and extracurricular programs.
- Provide leadership for the planning, development and implementation of the high school’s curriculum.
- Use a systematic plan of checks and balances when preparing and supervising the building’s budget.
- Foster positive citizen-staff-student relations and effective communication and citizen participation in the school.
- Foster good school-community relations by keeping the community aware and responsive.
- Plan, organize and supervise recognition programs for school activities.
- Provide educational and administrative leadership in making and carrying out decisions for the building.
- Anticipate problems and initiate solutions to problems.
- Be cognizant of students' and staff members’ rights.
- Provide leadership in student management, including in the areas of student attendance, and discipline.
