    About MCSCS

    Middlesex County STEM Charter School (MCSCS) is a public school serving grades Kindergarten through 10th grade and open to all students who reside in the City of Perth Amboy and nearby towns. The school is free to all students and families and is a replication of the Central Jersey College Prep Charter School, a recipient of the 2016 Blue-Ribbon Award and other prestigious awards.     School Nurse

    Responsibilities Include:

    • Deliver direct nursing care to students under the direction of a Certified School Nurse or School Administrator, fostering a safe and healthy learning environment.
    • Implement prescribed healthcare plans and provide routine treatments for students with chronic conditions, such as diabetes management or tube feedings.
    • Regularly assess student health complaints in the health office, providing first aid and emergency care as needed within the LPN scope of practice.
    • Establish and maintain a clean, welcoming health office environment that supports student wellness and privacy.
    • Manage and administer medications to students in strict accordance with physician orders, state regulations, and district policy.
    • Organize and maintain accurate health records, documenting all clinical visits, treatments, and communications in the student information system.
    • Engage in ongoing professional growth to stay current with pediatric nursing trends and school health safety protocols.

    Additional Responsibilities:

    • Prepares adequately for health office coverage to be assumed when absent;
    • Facilitates home-school communication by providing updates to parents regarding student illness or injury;
    • Integrates appropriate health-office technology for electronic health record (EHR)
    • Performs other health-related duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator or lead nurse.

     

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

    • Proven clinical skills in first aid, medication administration, and vital sign monitoring;
    • Strong triage and classroom-based medical support skills;
    • Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing;
    • Excellent organizational and documentation skills;
    • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a school-wide health team.

    Required Education & Certification:

    • Valid New Jersey Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) License;
    • Valid CPR/AED Certification
    • Valid New Jersey Criminal History Review (fingerprinting) and background check;
    • Proof of US citizenship or legal resident alien status.
    • Tuberculosis Test;
    • Experience is a plus.
