Job Description

The Monett R-1 School District is seeking qualified applicants for a licensed RN or LPN school nurse at the Monett Early Childhood Center for the 2026/2027 school year.  Experience and a Missouri RN license is preferred, but will consider a LPN.  Candidate will need to possess an active CPR/AED certificate, and be able to:



  1. Work closely with the building principal, teachers and other school staff to provide a healthy and safe school environment for optimal learning.

  2. Conduct health assessments and maintain confidential student health records.

  3. Perform periodic screenings of students for vision and hearing problems, growth and development, dental, scoliosis,

  4. Active Postings

  5. hygiene, blood pressure, and pediculosis.

  6. Work to prevent and control communicable diseases by monitoring immunizations, and by early detection, treatment, education and reporting.

  7. Participate on teams to develop 504 plans and IEPs, as needed, for individual students.

  8. Create and distribute health plans and asthma action plans for students needing possible emergency intervention and/or special health care procedures.

  9. Provide first aid for accidents or illnesses occurring during school according to established policies and procedures. Notify parents of the need for further medical evaluation or treatment.

  10. Maintain a daily log of all students seen in the health room.

  11. Maintain health room supplies and equipment. Sees that expired medications are replaced and discarded per protocol.

  12. Send referral letters or make phone calls to parents/guardians for follow-up care in  the event of abnormal screenings.

  13. Serve as a resource for information regarding available community health and dental services.

  14. Administer, record, and store student medications at school according to established policies and procedures.

  15. Maintain confidentiality of student and employee information.

  16. Work with the building principal, counselor, teacher and social services representative in the identification and reporting of possible child and neglect.

  17. Assist with the data collection and reporting of immunizations and special health care needs to the Missouri State Department of Health.

  18. Make home visits with the building administrator or counselor to evaluate student health concerns or needs.

  19. Provide health care education to students, school employees, parents or guardians.

  20. Assist school personnel with health and first aid needs. Assess and report accidents or injuries that are job-related.

  21. Promote good health, fitness and wellness in students and school staff.

  22. Serve as a member of the School Health Advisory Council. Collaborate with the district Wellness Coordinator and other members to create and implement programs for improving the health and fitness of students.

  23. Attend quarterly meetings with other school health services staff members to review policies, identify needs, and discuss ideas and concerns.
