TITLE: Assistant School Nutrition Director
TYPE OF POSITION: Full-time (1.0); 220 work days, anticipated start date 08/03/2026 salary commensurate with experience (range $75,000-85,000/year)

The Assistant School Nutrition Director supports the Food Service Director in the overall management and administration of the district’s nutrition program. This role contributes to menu development, operational efficiency, compliance, and strategic initiatives, while ensuring high-quality food service for students and staff.

REPORTING STRUCTURE:
The Assistant School Nutrition Director reports to the Food Service Director and Assistant Superintendent of Operations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree with Culinary, Business or Dietetic experience preferred;
- At least 3 years of experience in a commercial or school kitchen environment, at least one of which is at the management or administrative level
- Serve Safe certified, Mass Allergen certified
- Demonstrated knowledge of food service business and operational functions, specifically with the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs
- Demonstrated knowledge of food values and dietetic principles of food preparation;
- Excellent communication, customer service, interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills;
- Proficiency in food service management software, inventory systems, Google and Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of capital improvements, maintenance, and preventive maintenance as applied to food service operations;
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Food Service Director or Superintendent may find appropriate.
DUTIES:
- Collaborate with the Food Service Director and District Kitchen Supervisor to develop, test, and implement innovative menus, recipes, and food concepts aligned with nutritional standards and student preferences
- Assist in the development and facilitation of a Student Wellness Committee to promote healthy eating initiatives
- Serve as the District’s Farm-to-School Coordinator, fostering partnerships and integrating local food sources into the program
- Oversee maintenance and repair of all food service equipment by:
- Act as the SchoolDude technician to manage internal maintenance requests
- Coordinating with external vendors for specialized repairs and services
- Monitoring and ensuring adherence to preventative maintenance schedules
- Manage weekly ordering of food, supplies, and necessary materials to ensure efficient operations
- Oversee and administer the district’s catering program, including planning, coordination, and execution
- Provide operational support, leadership, and guidance to the District Kitchen Supervisor
- Develop and implement marketing and communication strategies, including social media outreach, to promote the School Nutrition Program
- Other duties, as directed by the Food Service Director.
