Job Title: Elementary English Language Arts Coordinator (Grades 3–5)
Position Summary
The Elementary ELA Coordinator (Grades 3–5) provides leadership and guidance to ensure high-quality literacy instruction across upper elementary campuses. With a focus on initiative and problem-solving, this role identifies needs and develops sustainable, system-level solutions. The coordinator focuses on strengthening reading and writing outcomes, supporting teachers in implementing research-based practices, and ensuring alignment to state standards and assessments The coordinator collaborates with campus and district leaders to drive student achievement through data-informed instruction and targeted professional development.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Leadership
- Lead the implementation of a rigorous, standards-aligned ELA curriculum for grades 3–5.
- Develop and refine instructional frameworks, pacing guidance, and aligned resources to strengthen curriculum implementation across campuses.
- Support high-quality instruction in reading comprehension, writing, vocabulary, and language conventions.
- Model effective instructional strategies, including close reading, text-dependent questioning, and writing across genres.
- Develop and write district common assessments aligned to TEKS, STAAR expectations, and the adopted ELA curriculum to monitor student progress and inform instruction.
- Ensure alignment between curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
Teacher Support & Coaching
- Provide guidance and support to instructional coaches and campus leaders through classroom visits, planning sessions, and collaborative discussions.
- Support effective lesson design, small group instruction, and differentiation in collaboration with instructional coaches and campus teams, as needed.
- Support professional learning communities (PLCs) focused on improving ELA instruction and student outcomes.
- Build capacity in integrating literacy across content areas.
Assessment & Data Analysis
- Analyze student performance data (state assessments, benchmarks, formative assessments) to identify trends and gaps.
- Provide data insights and recommendations to support campus instructional planning and decision-making.
- Monitor progress toward district and campus literacy goals.
- Support the development and use of data tools, protocols, and resources to inform instruction and interventions.
Professional Development
- Design and deliver high-quality professional development aligned to district priorities and state standards.
- Provide training on evidence-based literacy practices, including comprehension strategies, writing instruction, and intervention support.
- Support new and developing teachers in collaboration with instructional coaches through targeted professional learning opportunities.
Program Implementation & Compliance
- Ensure fidelity of implementation of district literacy programs, curriculums and initiatives.
- Support alignment to state standards and assessment expectations
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with campus administrators, instructional coaches, and district leaders.
- Communicate expectations, updates, and best practices related to ELA instruction.
- Support family and community engagement efforts related to literacy.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Valid Texas teaching certification required.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of successful elementary teaching experience (grades 3–5 preferred).
- Demonstrated expertise in literacy instruction, including reading and writing.
- Experience in instructional coaching or teacher leadership is preferred.

Working Conditions
